Caroling by Gaslight opens on December 2nd, 2022! Everyone knows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the tightfisted old miser. But if you thought he was bad, wait until you get a load of his neighbors. Find out what really happened that fateful night in this hilariously devious R-rated retelling of the Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol.
We reached out to Lilly Mills to find out more about her and her experience working on this production!
What is your favorite or least favorite holiday season tradition and why?
I can't stand celebrating Thanksgiving since it is celebrating the colonization and enslavement of the indigenous people of this country.
Do you relate to your character or to any character in the show? How similar / different are you?
I relate to my character a decent amount. She’s strong, and powerful, and not afraid of her sexuality.
What's your favorite line in the show? Why?
“Gimpy’s got a gun” do I even need to explain?
What is your favorite version of A Christmas Carol (film / TV / stage)?
The Disney cartoon one where Donald Duck is Scrooge. What a trip.
What are your favorite non-traditional holiday season activities?
I love making the most cursed snow creations I can. My top two were a snowman murder scene complete with ketchup and knives and a giant 6-foot-tall anatomically correct snow penis.
How did you get into theatre?
When I was three I went and saw Annie get your gun at a community theatre and said “I want to do that, mom” and within a few months I started doing theatre.
How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?
I love how their work is fearless and inclusive.
There's a lot of talk about gruel and gin in this play... What is your favorite dish to cook (or eat) during the holiday season? Feel free to share a recipe and/or anecdote if you'd like!
Idk about to eat but my favorite holiday cocktail is a pumpkin spice Moscow mule (I know but just trust me) and a vampire’s kiss (white hot coco, butterscotch schnapps, raspberry liquor, and vanilla rum).
