An Interview with Midsummer for Haters Actor Daniel Henry

Midsummer for Haters is showing June 3-18, 2022! In this collaboration with Nemesis Theatre Company, Shakespeare’s beloved classic gets a new treatment by the people who can’t stand it, resulting in a kidnapped Amazon, mystified mortals, sadistic fairies, and mechanicals gone wild! Will any of them survive four nights in the magic forest?

We reached out to actor Daniel Henry to find out more about him and his experience working on this unique production!

What do you hate about Midsummer?

I hate how bland Midsummer can be. I've not really seen any production that sparks my interest, until this show! I also just hate how none of the show would really happen if Oberon didn't want the changeling. Which is disgusting in the first place.

What’s your favorite scene in this show? Why?

I think my favorite scene in this particular version of Midsummer we are doing is the fight scene with the lovers in the forest. Doing the fight choreography has been so fun and educational!

Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?

I have a few short films that I have been part of the will be premiering later this year (2022) and I will also be in two more Magnetic shows in the 2022 season!

How do you feel about not knowing which version of the show you're doing until Egeus says his first line?

A little stressed, but extremely excited to take on the challenge!
