A Few Questions with Obstructure Actor Molly Graves

A collaboration with Anam Cara Theatre Company, Obstructure opens on August 12th! We reached out to Molly Graves to find out more about her and what working on this unique production has been like.

What is this show about in 3 sentences or less?

Oof, isn't that the question we all want to answer?? Well, I can't possibly do it in three sentences or less, or a hundred, Aso you'll just have to come and see for yourself.

What’s the process of creating this production been like?

Most. Excellent. I love devised theater. I love this group of people. I love this director. Smash em all up together, and it's pretty much great!

What are 5 songs you feel embody the mood of this production?

Breezeblocks - Alt J

Teacup - Cowgirl Clue

Super Mario Bros Theme Song

Eugene's Lament - Beastie Boys

City Lights and Traffic Sounds - The Reign of Kindo

How is this production different from other productions you’ve been in?

It's devised, so it's all about collaboration, and creating something that you know will be changed the second you present it to your fellow actors, and being ok with letting go of all that you like about it so that you can work with everyone else to make it something totally different and even better.

How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

Magnetic is great. It feels like they set you up, as an actor, with all the needed tools, and then sit back, applauding, while you do the thing you do. It feels pretty special.
