Algorithm & Blues: A Dating Sketch Show opens March 4th, 2022! This show will be an uproarious evening poking fun at the trials and tribulations of modern dating, featuring live music, bad date stories, and dancing Yentas!
We reached out to Grace with a few questions about herself and her experience working on this production.
1. Do you relate to any of your characters or to any character in the show? How similar / different are you?
Orange is who I WISH I was when dating. Instead I’m so awkward. Maybe I need to start channeling Orange energy.
2. What's your favorite line in the show? Why?
I love Harriet’s lines in Senior Games because they just all crack me up so much. I especially love “I rode in a chariot once!”

4. What's your favorite sketch comedy show / podcast / local group?
Portlandia, Key and Peele, Bajillion Dollar Properties isn’t technically sketches, but it has some of the most hilarious sketch comedians and most of the scenes are improvised.
5. What are your go-to first date (or date night) plans?
No movies! Cool, I just sat next to you for two hours, staring straight ahead and I know nothing more about you BORING. I like doing something where you can experience something together while walking and talking. Love a museum, an art gallery, window shopping, but my favorite is a county fair. Hello, first kiss on a Ferris wheel? *chefs kiss*
6. How did you get into theatre?
My siblings and I were those kids putting on plays in the backyard. We had an extensive (and absurd) costume collection and a thorough immersion into movie musical classics. We also had family friends who ran a children’s theater, and as we got a bit older, we started participating in shows there.
7. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?
The local work! So cool to be part of a true local community piece from start to finish.
8. What's your favorite type of apple?
Fuji
9. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?
I’ll likely be finishing my first crocheted blanket in about 2 years, so standby. Have I mentioned this hobby enough?
Biography
Grace is thrilled to be a part of this incredible cast in her first show at The Magnetic Theatre! She has been doing theater since her debut role as a sassy shepherd in the 2002 production of “Christmas Mass” at Holy Family Church in San José, CA. The part was not initially written as sassy. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting poorly and predicting the plots of Hallmark movies. Thank you for coming out tonight and enjoy the show!
