A Few Questions with Court of the Grandchildren Actor Scott Fisher

Court of the Grandchildren opens April 8, 2022! In this production, it’s 2051, the older generation that accelerated climate change is being brought to trial. And climate activist Lily thinks she has it all figured out. Until she meets her great uncle, David, who changes her perspective completely. He’s a man from today. She’s a woman from tomorrow. How will she judge him? We reached out to actor Scott Fisher to find out more about him and his experience working on this production.

1. What are the top 5 songs on your current "opening night" playlist?

Kevin McHale- Help Me Now

Psy- Daddy

Daft Punk- Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Tenacious D- F*** Her Gently

Childish Gambino- Sober

2. Do you love or hate AI and "technology"? Why?

I have a love/hate relationship with AI and technology.  I was in my late 20s when I first owned my own cell phone, I am not on any social media, and I do not want Siri or Alexa listening to me in case I give any verbal commands.  All that aside, I do love innovation and scientific progress, and I think it makes our lives better.

3. How did you get into theatre?

I wanted to do everything my big sister did, so when she got into theatre I did too!   It worked out well for both of us... we both have Theatre degrees, and my sister is a middle school theatre teacher in Texas.

4. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

I like the freshness of new work.  I like the fact that TMT showcases world premieres of shows.

5. Have you done any research or read any books / listened to any interesting podcasts related to the play's subject matter that you'd recommend?

Scene on Radio is wonderful- it is a serialized documentary podcast series.  Season 5 is called "The Repair", and it explores cultural roots of the climate crisis.   It is really good!  (Season 2, "Seeing White", is amazing and should be required listening for all Americans)
