A Few Questions with Court of the Grandchildren Actor Roberta Whiteside

Court of the Grandchildren opens April 8, 2022! In this production, it’s 2051, the older generation that accelerated climate change is being brought to trial. And climate activist Lily thinks she has it all figured out. Until she meets her great uncle, David, who changes her perspective completely. He’s a man from today. She’s a woman from tomorrow. How will she judge him? We reached out to actor Roberta Whiteside to find out more about her and her experience working on this production.

1. What are the top 5 songs on your current "opening night" playlist?

Joyful by Dante Bowe, Love God and Love People by Danny Gokey, Until Grace, and What You are Famous for by Tauren Wells, Best of My Love by the Emotions.

2. Do you have any rituals you follow when rehearsing for or performing in a show?

No rituals, but I record my lines and listen to them while driving to and from work. It's a 45 minute commute.

3. Do you love or hate AI and "technology"? Why?

I have a "love/hate" relationship with technology. I usually tell people, when asked about it, "I know just enough to be dangerous."

4. How did you get into theatre?

My first experience in theater was when I played an angel who announced the birth of Christ.   My sister and I performed "Do you hear what I Hear?" After that I was hooked. I began to be in productions at community theater, continued in high school and on into college.

5. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

This is my first time on the stage at the Magnetic theatre. I am looking forward to being a part of this production.
