Dry Weather Wind, by local playwright Kai Elijah Hamilton, is part of The Magnetic Theatre's New Play Development program. It will be presented as a "live" reading on Zoom on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 7:30 pm. We reached out to actor Miles Rice with a few questions about this production.
1. What are the challenges of performing under these circumstances?
Human to human interaction. Having a screen between you and a scene partner makes it hard to really connect and bring what is needed to the moment.
2. What have you found to be your biggest quarantine hobby?
Playing a lot of video games with friends and reading comic books.
3. What makes you most excited about being a part of this project?
Helping the playwright take their piece to the next level.
5. Why and how did you get into theatre?
At a very young age, I always had a desire to be in big action films or in movies like the classics such as Singing in the Rain, Mary Poppins, and The Wizard of Oz. I auditioned for my first musical in high school which was Fiddler on the Roof and was cast as Perchik. The rest was history. I fell in love with the theater. I auditioned at NCTC and ended up getting a theater scholarship to Greensboro College and have been doing the acting thing ever since.
7. If you could play any character in any show, what would be your dream part?
Red in Red Remembers. It’s a one-man show that blew my mind back in 2009 because of just how challenging it would be to do as an actor.
