Dry Weather Wind, by local playwright Kai Elijah Hamilton, is part of The Magnetic Theatre's New Play Development program. It will be presented as a "live" reading on Zoom on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 7:30 pm. We reached out to actor Heather Nicole Bronson with a few questions about this production.

1. What are the challenges to performing under these circumstances?

Performing via zoom comes with several challenges. I am finding it especially difficult to act without using my entire body. Additionally, I'm really missing the in-person energy and chemistry of working with my fellow actors. I think we've all been doing a great job navigating these hardships though, and have really found our characters despite it!

2. What have you found to be your biggest quarantine hobby?

I've gone through so many hobbies, I'm not sure I could choose the biggest!  But some highlights include knitting, creating my own planner spreads, recording covers of 80s pop songs, going on long walks in my neighborhood, and eating a lot of potato chips.

3. What makes you most excited about being a part of this project?

I am especially excited about this project because I've known the playwright, Kai Elijah Hamilton, for quite some time. We've worked together, played together, and seen each other on stage, so this is another cool way to collaborate with him! I also think it's just cool to be a part of theatre during the time of COVID. Artists are so resilient and I love that we've been able to use technology to continue our creative endeavors.

4. How is working with The Magnetic Theatre different from working with other theatres in the area?

The Magnetic Theatre is such a cool place to work-- really. I feel like it is an especially collaborative environment. I really appreciate having my opinions and visions heard and appreciated, and being able to do the same for the rest of the team.

5. If you could play any character in any show, what would be your dream part?

Again, we've found a question that is almost impossible to answer because there are so many roles I'd love to take a stab at. I'll narrow it down to a musical and a non-musical role. In a musical, I'd really love to play Susan from Tick, Tick....Boom!  In a non-musical, I'd love the opportunity to play Ophelia in Hamlet.
