A Few Questions with No More Waiting Actor Daniel Sandoval

No More Waiting is a show devised by the ensemble as part of The Cathedral of All Souls' Third Annual Lenten Arts Series showing on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00pm.

Every worker in this country will experience struggles within our capitalistic system. But what does it take to change that? Inspired by the Great Resignation Movement and recent worker strikes, experience stories of people who share one thing in common: a desire to see a kind and empathic workplace environment.

We reached out to Daniel Sandoval, a part of the ensemble to find out more about him and his experience working on this production.

1. What do you think audiences will be thinking about on the way home from this performance?

The work-a-day experiences of a wide cross-section of people, and their current challenges.

2. Do you feel that this performance is important given today’s social climate? Why?

Yes- most of us have to work, and all of us are dependent on others, and yet there is so much inchoate anger and rage out there, and it often visits our workplaces.

3. Do you relate to your character or to any character in the show? How similar / different are you?

My character is based on my actual career experience.

4. Do you have any books you’re reading for inspiration as you prepare for this show? If so, what are they?

Waiting for Lefty (Odets) and Working (Studs Terkel).

5. How did you get into theatre?

Very recently, inspired by the experiences of my friend and her child.

6. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

It's a very open environment, with a specific mission to develop original works.

Biography

Daniel returns to the Magnetic Stage for the fourth time, after most recently portraying Cleo Nicholson in the Sparrow and Whipporwill last Autumn.  A seasoned choral singer, he has sung with several Asheville-area choral societies, often alongside his wife Theresa. By day, he works as an Automation and Robotics Engineer, and loves to build gadgets and props and bake in his spare time.  He is grateful to have been cast in this unique production- his very first Devised Work, and to the Magnetic Theatre in general for their innovative programming.
