A Few Questions with No More Waiting Actor Kai Strange

No More Waiting is a show devised by the ensemble as part of The Cathedral of All Souls' Third Annual Lenten Arts Series showing on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00pm.

Every worker in this country will experience struggles within our capitalistic system. But what does it take to change that? Inspired by the Great Resignation Movement and recent worker strikes, experience stories of people who share one thing in common: a desire to see a kind and empathic workplace environment.

We reached out to Kai Strange, a part of the ensemble to find out more about himself and his experience working on this production.

1. What do you think audiences will be thinking about on the way home from this performance?

I'd imagine and hope they'd be thinking about how messed up a lot of this world is and what they can do as an individual to make a change, but more importantly what we can all do together!

2. Do you feel that this performance is important given today’s social climate? Why?

Definitely! This piece speaks about Injustice that happens often in day-to-day life, and affects more than we realize. I think a lot of people talk about these issues, but showing it to an audience, telling the story with people live and right in front of you... That's something that will change perspectives and make things really real.

3. What's your favorite line in the show? Why?

I'm not exactly sure yet, because I haven't seen everyone's pieces in full, but there are TONS of great lines these actors have come up with!

4. Do you relate to your character or to any character in the show? How similar / different are you?

Definitely, my character is based off me in a lot of ways, but I also didn't want him to be exactly like me either. Having a character different than you can allow you to look at other perspectives you never thought about looking at before. Well having a character more similar to yourself allows you to express things that are really deep and important to you in a profound way that most people aren't able to do.

5. How did you get into theatre?

School theater, then theater camps, and then bigger stuff from there!

6. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

I've mainly worked with the Montford Park Players, who focus mainly on Shakespeare, and are also an outdoor space. It's interesting to work in a place that is almost completely opposite from that. Both are definitely valuable experiences, but it's cool to see the contrast.

7. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?

Caroling by Gaslight, by Skyler Goff, but I'm sure you've heard of that one already 😎
