Starbright is showing at The Magnetic Theatre in Asheville, NC July 8 - 23, 2022!
Grace, an astronomer with a Ph.D. in astrophysics, is reeling from the death of her daughter, Abigail. When Abigail appears to Grace and begins to make predictions about events in the cosmos, Grace must choose between her memories and her sanity.
We reached out to actor Janet Oliver to find out more about herself and her experience working on this production.
1. What's your favorite line in the show? Why?
Abby says to her mom: "Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I'm gone". So many people I've loved are no longer within my sight, but they still shine brightly in my memory. I believe that as long as someone is remembered they still exist. We live on in the memories of those who love(d) us.
2. Do you believe connecting with those who have passed is possible?
I believe there are other worlds that we may not be privy to; I believe in reincarnation; I believe there is a veil between this world and others, and I also believe that anything is possible.
3. How did you get into theatre?
Dead center of any stage has always been my home. I began acting at age 15 in local Community theatre plays; obtained an undergrad degree in theatre and an MFA in Musical Theatre Performance. Before moving to Asheville I acted professionally throughout the Southeast.
4. Do you believe there is more out there than what we currently comprehend?
Yes indeed. I know that my mind is not sufficiently open enough to comprehend the vastness of the universe.
