Meet Michael Muntisov, he is the playwright of The Court of the Grandchildren!
A man from today. A woman from tomorrow. How will she judge him? Lily, who works with climate refugees, has just been contacted by David - her last living relative. He is due to appear in the Court of the Grandchildren, for climate crimes, and Lily may be his only saving grace.
We reached out to Michael to tell us a bit about himself and about what his experience has been like with this production!
1. What's your favorite line in your show? Why?
"Family is the only thing that endures."
I like it because it's true.
2. How do you feel about the ever increasing presence of technology and artificial intelligence, in our daily lives?
As with any new developments, there are positives and negatives. I think 'Court of the Grandchildren' shows the audience aspects of both sides.
3. How, in your opinion, can someone in our current society have a positive impact on climate change?
Simply by having as many conversations as you can about climate change. It can be difficult, but focus on shared concerns. Trying to 'convince' people doesn't work. That's why the arts are such a great medium for this conversation. The more people who appreciate the issue, the more the politicians will take note. Remember that politicians are followers not leaders. It is up to us to lead.
4. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?
The Magnetic Theatre is bold and takes risks. That's how innovation happens! And I love the lack of pretentiousness.
5. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?
I have just started a new project - a screenplay called "The Refuge". It is about a rich business man and his family who seek refuge at their summer retreat in Montana after a climate disaster strikes the coast... Wait! Maybe I should do a stage adaptation?
