Meet Stan Baranowski, he is joining us for our next virtual reading of The Court of the Grandchildren written by Michael Muntisov and directed by Jason Williams!

A man from today. A woman from tomorrow. How will she judge him? Lily, who works with climate refugees, has just been contacted by David - her last living relative. He is due to appear in the Court of the Grandchildren, for climate crimes, and Lily may be his only saving grace.

We reached out to Stan to tell us a bit about himself and about what his experience has been like working on this production!

1. Do you relate to your character? How similar / different are you?

I don't think I'm very similar to my character in this play. He is much older than me and is (perhaps justifiably) very bitter about how his life has turned out, in spite of all his many accomplishments. He is also tired of living and just wants to die. None of that is true for me.

2. What's your favorite line in your show? Why?

The very last line in the show (which I won't spoil for anyone). Come see the show to find out what it is.

3. How do you feel about the ever increasing presence of technology and artificial intelligence, in our daily lives?

As a former IT Specialist, I actually enjoy all the ways technology and AI have enhanced our lives. At the same time, though, I am very aware, and concerned, about the erosion of our privacy as companies take advantage of technology to track us and collect personal information about us.

4. How did you get into theatre?

When I was in college, I had a friend who had gotten into NYU Film School. When he needed to start doing film projects for his classes he asked me to be in one of them and that lit the spark for acting for me. I switched my major to Theatre immediately.

5. What do you think our society can learn, now, from the generation that is currently in high school and college?

The generations in high school and college now, for the most part, don't seem to have a lot of the prejudices and false beliefs that so many in our world today have. That makes me hopeful for the future as those people assume positions of power and influence in our society.
