Meet Carin Metzger! She will be joining us for our next production, Wandering With Magnetic: something i cared about which follows the story of Alyx and Dru, as it unfolds throughout their lives, performed along the Reed Creek Greenway.

Audiences will walk the trail and see scenes of the same couple, played by a different pair of actors in each scene. We reached out to Carin to tell us a bit about herself and about what her experience has been like during this production.

1. What is your favorite Asheville area walking trail/ greenway?

I love the Experimental Forest

2. Do you relate to your character? How similar/different are you?

I would say I relate to her desire to get things said out in the open, but she is MUCH more of a box-checking entrepreneur than I am!

3. What's your favorite line in this show?

"But in choosing this life, I chose us. Why can't you get that?"

4. What is one thing you’d be willing to give up for someone else?

A food group.

5. What are the biggest challenges of this rehearsal process?

not getting to see the discovery process and character discussions for other scenes that can unlock understanding about the inner working of the character's journey. Oh and crying into my mask in 30 degree weather.

6. What makes this experience special for you?

Truly the idea of creating new kinds of collaborative theatre in safe creative ways.

7. How did you get into theatre?

As a young ballet dancer, I was consistently going "over the top" when we would be told to really feel the music.  I was determined to FEEL the most.

8. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

I'd say the creative problem solving through the amazing leadership is quite remarkable. Every time I'd think "how are we going to make that happen?" someone has been brainstorming about ways to embrace the challenge and think creatively about it.

9. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?

Check out the staged reading Zoom performance "MagPie"  in Attic Salt Theatre Company's Rising Artists Playwriting Contest, streaming through February 21st.
