Meet Travis Lowe! He is one of the playwrights for our next production, Wandering With Magnetic: something i cared about which follows the story of Alyx and Dru, as it unfolds throughout their lives, performed along the Reed Creek Greenway.

Audiences will walk the trail and see scenes of the same couple, played by a different pair of actors in each scene. We reached out to Travis to tell us a bit about himself and about what his experience has been like during this production.

1. What is your favorite Asheville area walking trail/ greenway?

You'll find me on the Reed Creek Greenway, at some point, every. single. day.

2. Do you relate to your character? How similar/different are you?

There is a piece of myself in every character I write, but both of these characters are fairly different from myself in terms of goals and happiness. I identify with Alyx's snark a good bit.

3. What's your favorite line in this show? Why?

They loved your answer because it fit their agenda[...] No one waited for my answer.

4. What is one thing you’d be willing to give up for someone else?

Regrets

5. What are the biggest challenges of this rehearsal process?

6. What makes this experience special for you?

This is the first time I've co-written a play with anyone, and the camaraderie, sympathy, and joy I found in the process were greater than I ever expected.

7. How did you get into theatre?

I had the title role in a school play in kindergarten called "The Littlest Angel", which might as well have been called "The Angel Who Always F***s Up"

8. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

The Magnetic is always down to try something uncommonly magnificent.

9. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?

My play Persephone will be going up with Different Strokes in late spring or early summer. We are hoping to have audience (in some capacity) in the Tina McGuire at the Wortham Center. It's a play I care deeply about, and a triumphant way to re-open live theatre in Asheville,
