Meet Lauren Otis! She will be joining us for our next production, Wandering With Magnetic: something i cared about which follows the story of Alyx and Dru, as it unfolds throughout their lives, performed along the Reed Creek Greenway.

Audiences will walk the trail and see scenes of the same couple, played by a different pair of actors in each scene. We reached out to Lauren to tell us a bit about herself and about what her experience has been like during this production.

1. What is your favorite Asheville area walking trail/ greenway?

I love the Laurel River Trail in Marshall. It's pretty low-key, which makes it perfect for enjoying the scenery and spending time with your walking buddies.

2. Do you relate to your character? How similar/different are you?

I am a planner...I like my routines and having structure, and I am a sucker for love. I think I share all of these qualities with Alyx.

3. What's your favorite line in this show? Why?

"After my travels and experiences, the rest of my life was just waiting for me to get back." This is the power of love, even if it doesn't happen the way you thought it would.

4. What is one thing you’d be willing to give up for someone else?

My need to control everything. It's lonely and doesn't lend well to successful relationships.

5. What are the biggest challenges of this rehearsal process?

I genuinely enjoy watching my fellow actors work; I learn so much that way. I also love cheering for everyone, and it's hard to not be able to do that as much as I normally would.

6. What makes this experience special for you?

I am performing once again with my partner, Locksley. We push each other to do our best work...and it's really awesome.

7. How did you get into theatre?

Started out in dance classes at age 3...and quickly fell in love with being on stage in any way I could!

8. How is working with The Magnetic different from working with other theatres?

Magnetic is embracing local talent of all kinds, and finding new and creative ways to keep the arts alive in our community.

9. Do you have any upcoming projects that we should check out?

Check out the Stained Fortune podcast for some voiceover work! :)
